Everything sold on "Rare Items" is unique or made in small series. Production takes place by hand in our own workshop on Kungsholmen in Stockholm. I think it is worth pointing out that craftsmanship is unique or made in small series. All handmade things are "Rare Items".
The store is run by Erik Tidäng, who has designed and manufactured jewelry and utensils of metal for more then 20 years. Born 1973 in Gothenburg. Educated at Stenebyskolan and Konstfack, National College of Arts, Crafts and Design, 1994-1999. Own business since 1999. The business is located on Kungsholmen in Stockholm. I regularly show my work at exhibitions around Sweden and abroad. Please visit my website to see more of that part of the business.
I have works represented at Nationalmuseum, Röhss museum and at the stamp issue "Iron meets silver" in 2015.
The items are in most cases made of white or black oxidized sterling silver. When other materials are present they are always stated in the product description. Since all items are made by hand, small differences from the pictures in the store may exist. I strive to have as consistent quality as possible, but also think that the small variations that exist contribute to the objects' own character. Should you for some reason not be satisfied with the item you bought, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Get in touch as soon as possible, I'd rather just have satisfied customers.
Silver can "oxidize" over time. In most cases, it is enough to keep the jewelry clean. This is best done with a soft toothbrush and detergent. Should the metal have become discolored, I recommend "silver dip" for jewelry and polishing cloth for larger items. For longer storage, cleaned jewelry can advantageously be stored in "ziplock" bags. Keeping the air out is important as substances within the air affect the surface of the metal. Ziplock bags may not be that elegant but it works well.
